BEHAVIOR ANALYSIS
BY DR. AL FAH, DIRECTOR OF THE INTERNATIONAL PRIMATE PROGRAM (IPP)
Gruff was born in a sanctuary where he spent his younger years with family and experienced a fulfilling childhood – spending his days doing what gorillas do. Once he no longer needed his family’s protection, Gruff enrolled at IPP to discover his true potential. This is where Gruff learned his most valuable life lessons.
With a communication barrier, Gruff had difficulty comprehending instructions for everyday tasks, such as household chores. Or, perhaps he was just being stubborn – it’s challenging to distinguish the difference with him. However, when introduced to sports, specifically wrestling, he grasped concepts quickly.
Gruff embraced sports and learned the importance of working hard in a team environment, good sportsmanship and building character that stays with you forever. Since then, he’s applied his knowledge to other competitive sports, including volleyball, extreme leaf weaving and combat chess
As a result of his excellent character qualities and athletic accomplishments, he has become the first primate to represent a national sports apparel brand, Alpha Authentics. His role is to travel the globe and teach others what he discovered at IPP...leadership skills can be learned through good sportsmanship, regardless of the sport, age or level of competition.
Today, as Gruff proudly spreads his message to others, he takes his responsibilities of Brand Ambassador seriously, but always tries to inject his unique sense of humor into his meet-and-greets.
He’s adored by children, respectful to adults, clean, professional and polite. However, make no mistake, Gruff is still wild at his core. Provoking such an unpredictable animal could prove dangerous...or hilarious, depending on the circumstances.
Although he appears a bit intimidating, Gruff has a big heart and has established himself as a contributing member of society and the sports industry.
